Coercivity refers to the durability of the magnetic charge to the card. Low Coercivity (LoCo) cards are found often with bus/metro cards, as the cards are more for temporary use. Card reader functions/examples are as follows.
- Read - Receptionist scanning card at a reader at the front desk to determine the room it's mapped to; guest scanning at a hotel room door to gain access
- Write - Receptionist programming a blank card to a room, re-programming to another room, erasing the card, etc.
